Setelah lolos dari penyisihan group dan lalu juga dari 16 besar, delapan tim akan berlaga di perempat final Piala Dunia 2014 pada 4-5 Juli 2014. Dan kali ini akan terdiri dari empat tim dari benua Amerika yaitu Argentina, Brazil, Kolombia, Kostarika, dan empat tim dari benua Eropa yaitu Belanda, Jerman, Perancis dan Belgia. Sedangkan tim-tim dari benua Asia yaitu Korsel, Jepang, Iran, serta dari benua Afrika yaitu Nigeria, Kamerun, Ghana, Pantai Gading, Aljazair, sudah tersingkir.

Dari delapan tim yang masuk perempat final itu, dapat dikatakan lima tim merupakan tim-tim besar yang sudah pernah masuk final sejak diadakan pada tahun 1930. Brazil tim yang tak pernah absen dalam Piala Dunia, sudah pernah lima kali juara yaitu pada tahun 1958, 1962, 1970, 1994 dan 2002, serta dua kali runner-up pada tahun 1950 dan 1998, dan dua kali juara ketiga pada tahun 1938 dan 1978. Jerman sudah pernah tiga kali juara, pada tahun 1954, 1974, dan 1990, serta empat kali runner-up pada tahun 1966, 1982, 1986 dan 2002, juga empat kali juara ketiga pada tahun 1934, 1970, 2006 dan 2010.

Agentina dua kali juara pada tahun 1978 dan 1986, runner-up dua kali pula yaitu pada tahun 1930 dan 1990. Perancis satu kali juara pada tahun 1998, satu kali runner-up pada tahun 2006, dan dua kali mencapai semi-final pada tahun 1982 dan 1986. Belanda meskipun belum pernah juara, tapi sudah tiga kali runner-up yaitu pada tahun 1974, 1978 dan 2010.

Sedangkan tiga tim lain dapat dikatakan menjadi semacam tim underdog yaitu Belgia, Kostarika dan Kolombia. Belgia yang termasuk founding members FIFA, pernah mencapai semi-final pada 1986 dan mendapat posisi juara empat. Kostarika pernah mencapai 16 besar pada tahun 1990 lalu dikalahkan Cekoslovakia. Kolombia pernah mencapai 16 besar pada tahun 1990 juga lalu kalah dari Kamerun.

Jadi makna dari tahap delapan besar Piala Dunia 2014 dengan tiga tim underdog ini adalah seperti terkait dengan soal yang sering aku sebutkan, yaitu agar jangan sampai orang-orang yang terkait 3 menjadi kosong diangkat dari dunia ini, sebab dapat terjadi perebutan senjata-senjata pemusnah masal yang berujung ke kiamat, lebih baik tetap di under, tetap di dunia ini. Sedangkan tahun 2014 dimana angka 2 dibaca “two” yang seperti kata “to”, yang berarti untuk, dan angka 4 seperti terkait namaku Firman yang dalam bahasa Jerman atau Belanda kata “fir” berarti 4. Sehingga tahun 2014 itu seperti berarti “untuk mengosongkan satu orang Firman”, sesuai kesediaanku menjadi kosong dari dunia fana ini, ketemu ajal untuk kebaikan umat manusia.

Kalaupun aku lolos dari tahun 2014, akan ada tahun 2022 dimana angka 22 kalau dijumlah menjadi 4 juga, dan Piala Dunia 2022 akan diadakan di Qatar.
